MN Sustainability

All DPS locations are leased, which presents challenges in the reporting categories. DPS does not see or pay most utility bills directly. Many locations are not metered separately. Improvements would need to be negotiated with building owners. DPS's energy consumption is 2 percent of the enterprise.

DPS enters energy data in the MN B3 system. DPS works with lessors to obtain data and make improvements. DPS uses the state's green lease template for all new or renewing leases and plans to place a higher priority on employee behavior training. Recent remodeling projects provided opportunities to update lighting to LED in four divisions and one shared common space in the agency. These projects involved updating lighting in 22,010 square feet of the central office building.

MN Department of Public Safety

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS) supports sustainability efforts outlined in Executive Order 19-27 and will establish agency goals and develop strategic plans to contribute to the statewide sustainability goals. The baseline for reporting purposes was established using 2017 data.
